18/01/2012 - Capita - National Conference on Self-directed Support
On Thursday 29 March Capita will be holding a National Conference on Self-directed Support in Edinburgh (venue tbc). A programme is available on the Capita website and speakers include the Minister for Public Health, Michael Matheson (subject to parliamentary business), the COSLA Health and Wellbeing spokesperson, Cllr Douglas Yates and many other speakers from across the sector. 09/01/2012 - Boxed in: A debate exploring issues of identity, self, community and belonging for disabled people
You are invited to a question time style debate; “Boxed in: A debate exploring issues of identity, self, community and belonging for disabled people”. A panel of experts will discuss a wide range of issues around disability; issues of definition, perception, belonging, image, multiple-identities and what these and other issues mean for individuals and communities. ILiS planned and organised the debate with support from; Glasgow Caledonian University, Inclusion Scotland, Glasgow Disability Alliance, LGBT Youth Scotland, Voices of Experience and British Deaf Association.
The debate will take place on the 22nd of February 2012, at Glasgow Caledonian University, Saltire Centre, opens at 5.30pm, debate from 6pm – 7.45pm and then drinks reception until 8.30pm.

23/09/2011 - Evaluation of Self-directed Support Test Sites Published
As part of its activities to promote SDS, the Scottish Government selected 3 local authorities – Dumfries & Galloway, City of Glasgow and Highland – to act as test sites to trial targeting activities in order to increase the uptake of SDS. The test sites were funded for 2 years and 3 months (January 2009 to end March 2011).

30/08/2011 - Funding to sustain the development of independent support activity
The Scottish Government has invited proposals for activity to sustain the development of independent support activity. The total budget available for this programme in 2011-2012 will be £1 million.
