Research into older disabled people and stigma – information sessions
Community based Peer Researchers wanted for a Stirling University Research Project – Free Information Sessions
The University of Stirling are undertaking a 3 year research project looking at the effects of stigma on older disabled people.
The central aim of the project is to tackle stigma related to age, disability and place (as stigma can also be attached to where we live). They are looking to work with people who are aged over 45, particularly those that may be living with a disability, and gain insight into their experiences of stigma.
Specifically, they want to find out what makes our homes and wider environments less accessible to people. They also want to examine how well-designed homes and environments can help people be active members of the community and tackle stigma.
The Project is currently at the stage of recruiting a wide range of Community Peer-Researchers (CPRs) and building a network where they can share their lived experiences of growing older and of disability.
SDS Scotland are hosting two Information Sessions on the research project. Come along to to one of these free information sessions to learn how you can get involved in the research project.
